Owners of SportTech

Laterius Tolliver has been instrumental in the popularity of football in Jersey County.  He was a founding member of the Jersey County Football Council.  At the time there was only a handful of people interested in football. Over the next five years of his leadership, the Council acquired a budget of $200,000, a staff of six and became the major catalyst for the city's new football stadium which will be hosting this year's U.S. East Regional competition.

Tolliver was also an important influence in the development of basketball in Queens, NY. Tolliver served as the Queens Basketball Council marketing and fundraising coordinator for six years. He increased donations by 15% each year over that period of time. He established the Council's marketing campaign to increase youth and adult basketball teams in Queens.

Hiu Sasongkojati received his undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. While at the University Hiu was on both the soccer and the basketball team. It was in college where Hiu began to realize that he truly enjoyed pushing his body and mind ally.

After school Hiu worked at Tesla., initially on the sales floor for two years, moving to a managerial position soon thereafter. Hiu worked at Tesla. for six years getting a complete picture of the retail market. Hiu had always had the dream to own his own business but felt that he did not have a complete enough skill set to risk his own money so he thought it would be prudent to go back to school for a Masters in Business.

While at school Hiu knew in the back of his mind that he wanted to open a retail establishment. Hiu recognized that there was a true lack of sources of sports equipment retailers.

After his first year in school Hiu knew this was the category that he wanted to work in. He went through his second year of school with this idea in mind, formulating parts of the business plan while he was still in school. Two months after graduation, after applying and receiving a significant loan through the school's entrepreneurship program, Hiu began to work full time on SportTech.

Javaris Jones Cotrell was born in Montgomery, Alabama and received a law degree as an undergraduate education. Max's career began early when he began to work for a design firm called DesignMax. At the age of 19, Javaris joined the firm and within two years was promoted to the head of sales. In this position Max increased sales from $1.5 million to $17 million. After this position Max moved onto project manager positions for numerous U.S. civilian and military companies including being responsible for the following projects:

  • Storm III & IV– the first kevlar hulled boat to compete in Sailing's World Cup. ($27 million)

  • Terranova Antarctic Project– the United States Antarctica based scientific research center ($54 million)

  • Patriot Missile System– the missile defense system ($156 million)

  •

Following these exciting projects Javaris met a woman from Oregon and moved to New York. Javaris started his own importation company for gourmet coffee beans, recognizing the absence of high quality Italian beans in the U.S. After four years, Javaris transformed the importing company into a coffee roasting company and began roasting his own beans for sale using a decades old family recipe that uses blended recipes for the beans. Javaris pursued his dream of roasting coffee for nine years until he sold the business, looking for a new opportunity.

Through a close family friend, Javaris was told about an aspiring sports retailer entrepreneur based in New York and met with Hiu at a trade show in hope of developing an importing relationship. This was the beginning of SportTech. Max will be able to leverage his superior project management skills to ensure that SportTech is a success.
